Below are details of The Darkness' releases in date order. Hover over the artwork to read about the release.

 

  • 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us' was the first release since The Darkness reformed in 2011 and was available as a free download from their official website from 1st February 2012. An animated video for the track by illustrator Thom Lessner was released the same day. There are no plans for it to be a physical release, however it will be on the third album.

  • 'Girlfriend' was the third single from 'One Way Ticket To Hell ...And Back' and was released 22nd May 2006 (put back a week) on CD, DVD and limited-edition star-shaped 10" vinyl, with b-sides being remixes of the track, and a making of on the DVD.

  • 'Is It Just Me?' released on 20th February 2006 as the second single from 'One WayTicket To Hell ...And Back'.

    The fan favourite was released on CD, including b-sides 'Shit Ghost' and 'Shake (Like A Lettuce Leaf)',DVD with the making of the videoand a limited-edition 7" vinyl.

  • The Darkness' second album was 'One Way Ticket To Hell ...And Back' in the week beginning 28th November 2005.

    Recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales and Whitfield Street Studios in London throughout 2005, and then mixed and mastered in Los Angeles, USA.

  • Backed by b-sides 'Grief Hammer' and 'Wanker', The Darkness single 'One Way Ticket' was released 14th November 2005 in the UK on CD, DVD and limited-edition 7" transparent picture disc.

  • The Darkness released 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman... Again 'as a digital download exclusively through The Darkness Recordstore from 8th November 2004 for one month only! It reached number 14 in the then digital chart.

  • The Darkness - Get Your Hands Off My Woman... Again
  • The 5th single and last single released from Permission To Land was 'Love Is Only A Feeling' on 22nd March 2004 on CD with b-sides 'Planning Permission' and 'Curse Of The Tollund Man', on DVD with making of the video and a live performance of 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman' filmed at London's Astoria in 2003. Also released on limited-edition 7" vinyl.

  • The Darkness - Love Is Only A Feeling
  • The Darkness' single 'Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)' was released on 15th December 2003, on CD featuring b-side 'I Love You 5 Times' and on DVD featuring 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' live at Knebworth in August 2003, plus on limited-edition shaped picture disc. It narrowly missed out on the Christmas No.1 spot reaching a close No.2!

  • "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" The Darkness' 4th single released 22nd September 2003 and reached No.2 in the charts. Available on CD b-sides 'Makin' Out', and 'Physical Sex', on DVD featuring 'Out Of My Hands' along with the video and making of and limited-edition 7".

  • The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love
  • Debut album by The Darkness "Permission To Land" was released 7 July 2003 on CD and gatefold LP with poster - from the offical The Darkness website: "...It moved Kerrang! to dub them "the greatest rock'n'roll band of the last twenty years" and immediately shot to #2 in the UK Album Chart, sandwiched between Beyonce and Delta Goodrem. It hit the top of the hit parade on September 1 2003 and stayed there for 4 weeks. It's now a permanent fixture in the Top Forty.

    The band completed recording late in 2002 at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, after pre-production at a rehearsal studio in East London. The album was mixed at Roundhouse Studios in London and mastered at The Exchange in London. Additional vocals were recorded at Paul Smith Music Studios. Pedro(ck) Ferreira produced, engineered and mixed all tracks, including b-sides."

  • The Darkness - Permission To Land
  • The Darkness' third single was "Growing On Me", released on 16th June 2003 on DVD with video and outtakes, Limited 7" and CD with b-sides "How Dare You Call This Love" and well known legendary instrumental 'BareBack' which was the live set-opener up until the Winter tour of 2004. It charted at No.11, just outside of the top ten.

  • Second single was "Get Your Hands Off My Woman", which was released on February 24th 2003 on CD and limited 7", it featured 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman' (the clean radio version) and 'Best Of Me' as b-sides. It reached No.36 in the midweek chart, only to end up No.43 on the Sunday.

  • The Darkness' debut E.P, "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", released on August 12th 2002 through Must Destroy Music, finally sold out after three pressings and three chart entries. The E.P immortalised three of The Darkness' live favourites - 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love', 'Love On The Rocks With No Ice' and 'Love Is Only A Feeling'.

    From The Darkness Website: "Originally recorded by the band - assisted by engineer/producer Pedro(ck) Ferreira - at "The Business End", a recording studio set deep in the heart of Mike Hedges' brand new 2KHz complex, Pedro(ck) remixed 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' for the E.P."
