RELATIVES of pioneer pop music producer Joe Meek are waiting with bated breath to see a new film on his life - not least because they are in it.
Sandra Meek-Williams and family members were given roles as extras in
Telstar, which chronicles the turbulent life of the Newent-born music maker.
Joe left Newent to pursue his passion for musical engineering and production, and his relatives play passengers and townsfolk as the coach leaves the town.

The new film sees Spacey play Meek's mysterious financier Major Banks, while other big names include the Royle Family's Ralf Little, Darling Buds of May actress Pam Ferris, Rita Tushingham, ex-EastEnder Nigel Harman and Chas Hodges from Chas'n'Dave.

Some of today's biggest pop names make an appearance, including Justin Hawkins - singer of defunct rock band The Darkness - who plays Screaming Lord Sutch. Former S Club 7 member Jon Lee stars as Billy Fury.

Nick Moran made every last penny count when he was directing his movie about Joe Meek, the innovative Sixties record producer.

Moran, best known for his role in Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, resorted to ingenious methods to provide the little details which drew me into his new movie Telstar.
