411mania: My Top 10 Albums of 2009
8. Red Light Fever - Hot Leg
"After seeing Hot Leg in my hometown the summer before this was release, I was expecting great things from the new material, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Whilst some tracks are merely "good" rather than "great", there's nothing bad on here, and it's a nice nod back to when music was cheesy, but just damn fun...."
Christmas Justin Cartoon!
Eclectic Micks Cartoonist Nick Roche has drawn this for his Sunday blog spot:
"Ah, Christmas. Does strange things to a boy's choices for an artblog...

Justin Hawkins out of The Darkness, purveyor of the finest of all Christmas songs. Check out the video to see a man scream "BELL END" in the midst of a throng of kids. Big and clever, just like me.
Micky Christmas, Lickers!

The Sun - I Believe In A Thing Called (Meat) Loaf
"MIGHTY MEAT LOAF is making a comeback with former DARKNESS frontman JUSTIN HAWKINS steering his return to the big time.
Wow. What a combination. I predict Meat Loaf's voice and the rocker's guitar magic will spell sure-fire success. Hawkins has penned five tracks for the forthcoming collection. And I understand an eight-minute axe epic called Love Is Not Real is the standout song so far."
The Sun - Justin's gone handle barmy
"SO now we know what JUSTIN HAWKINS, former frontman of THE DARKNESS, has been doing with his time. The wailing rock singer has been carefully tending to this wonderful piece of face flora.
Justin grew it for Movember, the prostate cancer charity initiative to raise funds. But the HOT LEG singer - whose Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) was one of the most successful modern Xmas songs - loves it so much he's kept it."

Heavy Metal Advent Calender: 2nd December
"Way back in December 2003, The Darkness were riding high upon the crest of a wave of success that stemmed from the absolutely massive success of their debut album, Permission To Land. It was only natural for the most inventive and exuberant British rockers in recent memory to release a soon-to-be classic Christmas single.
In a classic FAIL, ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)’ got to #2 in the UK Singles Chart having been beaten by that Donnie Darko song. Close but no cigar, though The Darkness can take some solace in having beaten the Prince Of Darkness and Kelly Osbourne. If you don’t already, you should follow Justin Hawkins on Twitter. He’s still one of the most awesome men in the world of rock."
